String Guide

Which strings are right for you?

Not sure where to start? Here's a simple breakdown of the main string types and who they suit best.

All-Rounder

Synthetic Gut

The classic choice for beginners and recreational players. Durable, consistent, and easy on the wallet. If you're not sure, start here.

Comfort

Multifilament

Softer strings that mimic natural gut. Great for players with arm, elbow, or shoulder issues — excellent power and touch.

Control & Spin

Polyester / Co-Poly

Stiffer and durable. Ideal for intermediate to advanced players who swing hard and want bite and control. Not recommended if you have arm problems.

Pro Choice

Hybrid

Different strings in the mains and crosses — different combinations suit different rackets and playing styles. We'll work with you to find a set-up you'll be happy with.

Not sure which to pick? Just tell us your level, playing style, and whether you have any arm issues — we'll recommend the right string for you.
Tension Guide

What tension should you choose?

Tension directly affects how your racket feels. Lower tension gives more power and comfort; higher tension gives more control.

TensionFeelBest For
Lower — 45–52 lbs More power, more comfort Beginners, arm issues, slower swing speeds
Mid — 52–57 lbs Balanced power and control Most club players
Higher — 57–62 lbs More control, less power Advanced players, fast swing speeds
Check your racket's recommended range — it's usually printed on the frame (e.g. 50–60 lbs). Always stay within it.
Poly strings should be strung 4–6 lbs lower than softer strings. They're stiffer and can feel harsh at high tensions.
Strings lose tension over time. A racket strung at 55 lbs can feel like 48 lbs after a few months — worth restringing regularly.
If in doubt, go mid-range. 52–56 lbs is a comfortable, balanced starting point for most club players.
